Wetumpka Elementary School ACIP 2017-2018

Goals and Strategies for Improvement

These are the goals, strategies and activities as required by the 2017-2018 Continuous Improvement Plan. Please retain this shortened form for your records. Please know what is expected of you as a classroom teacher to fulfill the goals and strategies as designate in this plan.

 

1.       The faculty and staff at Wetumpka Elementary School will move instruction from a teacher-centered focus to a student-center focus.

Strategies: Critical thinking skills using Carolina Biological science materials in hands-on science lessons, Kindergarten play based classrooms, Spark/STEM Classrooms

 

2.       Wetumpka Elementary will strive to increase the number of students scoring proficient in reading.

Measurable objective: 50% in STAR Reading Assessment Spring 2018

Strategies: Disaggregate data to guide classroom instructional decisions and improve teaching, data meetings, balanced literacy professional development with Tammy Jones, reflection of STAR data used for tiered intervention

 

3.       All students at Wetumpka Elementary School will show improvement in the area of mathematics.

Measurable Objective: 80% proficiency on Quarterly math Assessments

Strategies: Collaboration in planning for instruction, implement, and apply mathematical practice standards, explicit instruction, tiered intervention, and small group reinforcement of lessons

 

4.       Wetumpka Elementary School will aim to increase the number of parents and families engaged in school activities.

Strategies: flexible meeting times offered, Title I parent involvement activities and meetings, Open House, conference days/ meetings, newsletters and communication with parents

 

5.       EL students will increase Comprehensive Proficiency Level.

Measurable Objective: 50% of English Learners will increase student growth to make Comprehensive Proficiency Level gain of 0.5 in Reading.

Strategies: Composite Proficiency Level- WIDA Standards, WIDA training for teachers on how to implement strategies, daily intervention for LEP students based on Rti

 

6.       WES will provide opportunities to orient incoming kindergarten and outgoing fourth grade students and their parents for a successful transition to their appropriate grade level.

Strategies: Kindergarten registration and orientation for parents, Fourth grade visit to WMS in May for smooth transition
